About Vidya Bharati College:

Vidya Bharati College, the pride of Kamrup Rural District is established amidst different hurdles in 1990. Since then the college has been growing successfully. The college is permanently affiliated to the University of Gauhati during 2003-04 sessions and govt. concurrence was accorded to the college in 2005 w.e.f. the session 1997-98. In its quest for glory, college has become indebted to various institutions and individual. The college acknowledges gratefulness to all who directly and indirectly extended their helping hands, bore enormous pain and bestowed upon the society this esteemed institution. The college is accredited by prestigious NAAC on 12-13th March, 2024 and obtained B grade in the 1st cycle.

The college is proud to have a main building with a big playground extending of a new Academic and Administrative block under the scheme of Govt. of Assam. At a little distance towards south, a sports complex and a women’s hostel are constructed. The college is privileged in having a dynamic faculty committed to imparting quality education. There are 9 (nine) Departments in Arts stream in the college. Following the directives of Gauhati University the college had introduced semester system from the year 2011, CBCS system from the year 2019 and FYUGP from the year 2023 (August Session), based on NEP2020 in its undergraduate course. It is a matter of pride that within a very short span of time Vida Bharati College blossoms to fragrance and has established itself as a premier institution of higher education in the state.

Teaching, Research and Organisation:

Teaching: Teaching is a process of emancipation of knowledge. Quality teaching is the primary involvement of the entire college family. The college has introduced some innovative practices in teaching students. Teaching plan, maintain teacher’s diary, review, syllabi distribution, short term assessment, micro teaching etc have been introduced for the development of the teaching learning process.

Research: The teachers of the college are engaged it in various forms of research works in different areas. A good number of faculties have already obtained M.Phil and Ph.D Degrees and some are pursuing research. Moreover almost all departments have a research council to monitor the projects and research activities of the students at undergraduate level.

Organization: Vidya Bharati College has at present various organisations, committees and associations for the smooth functioning of the college activities and for all round development of the institution.

College Magazine: Vidya Bharati College magazine named VIDYA JYOTI is published regularly by the student’s union of the college which is considered as the mouthpiece of the college.

POHAR: A hand written MEGAZINE named POHAR is regularly published from the Department of Education of the college. EDUCARE, a news letter is also published by Educational Forum of the college highlighting the activities of the Department of Education.

Wall Magazine: Vidya Bharati College publishes issues of its wall magazine VIDYASHREE which is an attempt to encourage the students to pen their ideas, literary activities on both contemporary and enduring issues.
